Frequently Asked Questions
We're calling on BPL and our elected officials to commit to a real interim library space — like Carroll Gardens (250 Baltic St), Red Hook (362 Van Brunt), and Fort Greene (240 Nassau St) got when their branches closed. Books, computers, WiFi, staff. Not a book cart.
Phase II is expected to run from Fall 2027 to Fall 2029 — at least two years. During that time, the Bushwick branch may also be closed. That's two North Brooklyn libraries out simultaneously with no brick-and-mortar replacement. Libraries are essential infrastructure, especially for people without home internet, kids who need a quiet place, and seniors.
No. We want the library fixed. We want it to be fully accessible — that's exactly what the ADA work is for. We're asking for a bridge during the gap, not an end to the renovation.

We're focused on Leonard, which is our home branch. We're tracking interest in Bushwick and will share what we learn. If you live near the Bushwick branch, you can let us know on our The Pattern page.
